After Steve Smith and David Warner, now ICC bans this star player for ball tempering

SriLankan skipper  Dinesh Chandimal has been banned for third Test against the West Indies after being found guilty of ball tampering on Tuesday.

David Richardson, ICC chief executive charged the trio of SriLankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal, coach Chandika Hathurusinghe including manager Asanka Gurusinha with a violation of Article 2.3.1, a Level 3 offence, which relates to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game”.

After the game end on Saturday the On-field umpires Aleem Dar and Ian Gould, and third umpire Richard Kettleborough had charged Chandimal for changing the condition of the ball in violation of clause 41.3 of the ICC Standard Test Match, ODI and T20I Playing Conditions.

As per reported in News 18 "After reviewing the footage of the incident, it is clear that Dinesh applied an artificial substance to the ball, namely saliva containing the residue of something he had in his mouth, an action which is prohibited under the ICC Code of Conduct," Srinath said in the release.

The cricket committee "viewed" ball tampering as "cheating" which went against the spirit of cricket. "Therefore, they (committee) were very strong that we need to increase the sanctions available for that type of conduct," Richardson told ESPNcricinfo. "So we are talking moving both ball tampering and personal abuse, foul language upto Level 3."
