After Australian skipper Steve Smith steps down, now coach Darren Lehmann set to resign; this former player to take the place

Australian cricket team are facing a lot of trouble after their alleged act got exposed. After which Australian skipper, Steve Smith and his team has confessed to doing the planning and plotting to tamper the ball with a yellow tape. Following which captain Steve Smith, stepped down for the Third Test match in the Cape Town.

Steve and vice-captain David Warner weren also banned for one game following the ball-tampering scandal.Steve Smith was also fined 100 percent of his match fee after he admitted his unfair practice. Now, reports say that Australian coach, Darren Lehman is set to resign following the ball-tampering scandal.

According to Fox Sports reports, Lehmann is disappointed with the team's terrifying act and is set to resign. “He’s not a stupid person, Darren Lehmann, he can read the tea leaves,” Morris said. “It looks as if he won’t be the coach going forward.”

Now, after the news of Lehmann's resignation is making rounds, everyone is wonder who the new coach of the team could be. Well according to, The Australian, the current head coach of Western Australia, Justin Langer could be on the top list. As it was earlier said, Langer had been tipped to take over from Lehmann in 2019.

Even there can be further chances of Brad Haddin and David Saker can be on the list of next Australian cricket coach. “The other options include assistants Brad Haddin and David Saker, but there is an expectation CA will opt for a cleanout of staff,” The Australian’s Peter Lalor wrote.

Meanwhile, as Steve Smith has also stepped down as the team captain and could also face lifetime ban. Well now it is said that wicket-keeper Tim Paine could take over as captain. Paine, one of the older players in the side, has been appointed an interim captain for the rest of the test.

However, other names are also making round are all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, batsman George Bailey and young fast bowler Pat Cummins.

Other than Steve Smith, Cameron Bancroft, Australian opener, was also fined 75 percent of his match fee. While, David Warner, also stepped down as a vice-Captain of the team.

Moreover, there are talks of imposing a lifetime ban on the player. However, it would be an extraordinary step in the history of cricket to ban a player for a lifetime, for tampering with the ball but still remains one of the possible outcomes of the tampering scandal.
