Petrol and diesel prices were increased again by 80 paise a litre each, taking the total hike in rates in the last two weeks to Rs 9.20 per litre.

Petrol in the national capital will now cost Rs 104.61 per litre as against Rs 103.81 previously, while diesel rates have risen from Rs 95.07 per litre to Rs 95.87, as per a price notification of state fuel retailers.

In Mumbai, the petrol and diesel prices have gone up by 84 paise, to Rs119.67 and diesel price went up by 85 paise to Rs103.92 per litre respectively.

In Chennai, the petrol and diesel rates are at Rs 110.09 and Rs 100.18 per litre. In Kolkata, the price of petrol is Rs 114.28 (increased by 83 paise) and diesel is Rs 99.02 (increased by 80 paise). In Bengaluru, a litre of petrol will cost Rs 110.25 and a litre of diesel will cost Rs 94.01.

Fuel prices have been increased across India and differ from state to state depending upon the incidence of local taxation.

This is the 13th increase in prices since the ending of a four-and-half-month long break in price revision on 22nd March.

All things considered, petrol and diesel prices have gone up by Rs 9.20 per litre.

Prices are set to rise further given the sharp jump in crude oil prices in the international markets. It will have a cascading influence on the prices of other items and result in inflationary spiral and harm growth while also impacting the prices of other items.
