Chandrachur Singh who made his comeback with web-series Aarya co-starring Sushmita Sen has finally opened up about being approached by Karan Johar for his directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starring Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Kajol and Salman Khan. Well, not many must be knowing that KJo’s first choice was Chandrachur for Aman’s role in the film.
Yes, you read it right! KJo approached Aarya actor for Amam’s role however after reading the scripted actor rejected the role which then landed up in Salman Khan’s lap. Talking about the same Chandrachur told DNA that rejecting the role was his big loss as the film turned out to be a nice and cult-classic film. He further added, “What was meant to be, was meant to be. It's one of those decisions you make and learn from that."
Not just this he also spoke about facing disillusionment after his films were shelved. His film Dariya co-starring Tabu was shelved soon after it was announced. Also, he was dropped from Earth which went to Rahul Khanna.
Coming back to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, not many must be knowing that the star cast of the film was not the original one except SRK. Apart from Chandrachur, Karan originally wanted to cast Juhi Chawla for Kajol’s role however she turned down the offer and Kajol came to his rescue. Similarly, for Rani’s role filmmaker approached Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Urmila Matondkar, however, they all turned down the offer.
