Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who is all set to play a local tailor in his upcoming entertainer 'Sui Dhaaga - Made in India', learned tailoring for three months to perfect his character.
"I knew that I had a task at hand. I knew I had to master the art to convince people that I am a real masterji. Darshan (the costume designer) and Noor Bhai (the tailor on the sets) helped me a lot and I gave it three months to learn this skill. As an actor, I like to get challenged to become someone else on screen," said Varun.
The "Judwaa 2' star added how his initial classes were frustrating because he wasn't getting it right. "The needle pierced my fingers multiple times. I'm so glad that I went through the drill because I have picked up a new skill in the process. It took me 3 months, sometimes 2 hours and sometimes 4 hours in each tailoring class to get the confidence that I could pull this off in front of the camera," he said.
The 31-year-old proudly said he can now stitch up a number of items, like shirts, trousers, and pillowcases. "3 months of training, learning and becoming Mauji! Thanks to Darshan and Noor Bhai, I can finally say I now know how to stitch :D #SuiDhaagaMadeInIndia" the actor wrote on his Instagram.
'Sui Dhaga - Made In India' is based on the stories of self-reliance and high spirits of the two central characters, Mamta and Mauji, rooted in an earthy town of India.
Starring Anushka Sharma alongside Varun, the love story is slated to hit the screens on September 28 this year.
