Urmila Matondkar lashes out at Kangana Ranaut over her remarks on Mumbai, Bollywood drug menace

Bollywood actor Urmila Matondkar has hit out at Kangana Ranaut for her statements about Mumbai and the ongoing controversy over the alleged drug racket in the film industry.

Alleging Kangana of needlessly playing victim card, Urmila offered suggestion to the ‘Queen’ actor asking her to start her fight against the drug menace from Himachal Pradesh, which is also her home state.

Urmila Matondkar expressed her opinions while talking to news channel India Today's Marathi web Channel "Mumbai Tak"

"The entire country is facing the menace of drugs. Does she (Kangana) know Himachal is the origin of drugs? She should start from her own state," Urmila said.

Launching an attack on Kangana, Urmila stated "Why did this person who has been given Y-security from the taxpayers money didn’t give information about the drug nexus to the police?"

Urmila stated that Kangana made some unpleasant statements about things that are very close to her heart - Mumbai and Bollywood. "No iota of doubt that Mumbai belongs to everyone. Whoever has loved the city and has given back to the city, it belongs to them As a daughter of the city, I will never tolerate any defamatory remark against it. When you make such comments you are not only insulting the city, but people of the state at large," she said.

"If one person shouts all the time, that doesn’t mean the person is speaking the truth. Some people want to crib all the time and play the victim card and if all that fails, they play the woman card, she said.

Responding to Kangana Ranaut’s remarks against Jaya Bachchan, Urmila stated that no person from a cultured family would say such things about someone of the stature of Jaya Bachchan. However, she also said she doesn’t concur with the act of razing by the BMC of Kangana's Pali Hill office.

Making a response to a question on why Bollywood was silent on the matter, Urmila said in today's scenario no one has the guts to stand up against such things.

"Bollywood is working in a vulnerable condition. People feel that they may face problems if they speak. If people are under constant fear they don’t ask questions," Urmila said.
