Ever since the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has announced its ensemble cast of the film, it has been in news. Apart from Ranveer, who plays Alauddin Khilji, his love interest Deepika Padukone plays the titular role Padmavati in the film. Whereas, Shahid Kapoor plays her husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh.

However, Ranveer is known to play the historical characters by getting into the skin of the character and he is living up to the expectations this time as well. Apart from shaving his head, the actor got 24 slaps until the filmmaker got his perfect shot. A scene where the actor Razaq Murad had to slap the actor only once was asked to repeat the shot 24 times.

Ranveer took to Instagram and shared this snippet and wrote, "True story!"

Apart from these three lead actors Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh and Sonu Sood will also be seen in the film. Produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions, the film is set to release on November 17, 2017.
