Taapsee Pannu’s starrer Thappad is in the news from past two days earlier because of Anurag Kashyap's comment on Amit Shah and then yesterday netizens asking people to boycott Thappad as Taapsee stood between the crowd of protesters who were raising their voice against CAA bill. Amid all of this today the movie has hit the theatres and to everyone’s surprise, people are appreciating the film.
According to netizens Taapsee shouldn't have used political events to promote her film, however, by reading the tweets of the netizens on Twitter it seems that people are liking the film and are supporting the film amid all these protest and boycott. The film which is based on a common issue ‘domestic violence’ narrates the story of a couple who were enjoying their marital life until Vikram (Pavail Gulati) slaps Amrita (Taapsee) during the heat of a moment in between a house-party. For her, the intensity of the slap was more than one can imagine and she decides to call it quits by filing for divorce.
One of the users wrote, “#Thappad is jaw-dropping good - a film so powerful, it emits intelligence and sparkle in every frame, every dialogue, every little movement. @anubhavsinha may be the only filmmaker consistently making movies this country needs. The bar’s been set high - very high - for 2020.”

Men will judge Taapsee as ziddi unreasonable illogical stubborn & egoistic
Ladies will applaud the film convinced that it propergates women empowerment
The performances as well as the climax scene between Taapsee & Tanvi makes the film worth watching

#Thappad is legally correct but far away from reality. A slap from either gender is wrong but can nvr be a cause for DIVORCE for something that happened in the heat of a moment

Well, this is not the first time netizens call for the boycotting a film for using a political and sensitive issue for promoting their film. Earlier, Deepika Padukone’s film Chhapaak was also boycotted as she participated in JNU protest which resulted in the low box-office collection. In terms of Thappad so far we are getting great reviews but tomorrow only we will get to know the amount earned by the film on the first day.
