Rangoon is the first disaster of 2017 as the distributors Viacom 18 will lose around Rs 50 crore from the film. Made on a budget of 60 crore, Sajid Nadiadwala sold the film further to Viacom 18 for Rs 67 crore thereby making a table profit of Rs 7 crore.
The studio invested Rs 13 crore towards print and publicity which takes the landing cost of Rangoon at Rs 80 crore.
The theatrical share from Rangoon will be lesser than the print and publicity expense which explains the magnitude of loss the studio will suffer.
