Abhishek had apparently offered the film to Ranbir before it went to Sushant Singh Rajput
A couple of months back, Abhishek Chaubey announced his next film which is based on the tales of the dacoits of Chambal. The director revealed in an interview that he is in talks with Sushant Singh Rajput, who has liked the script. However it is said that Ranbir Kapoor was the first choice for it. A source says, “After Udta Punjab, Abhishek started working on this project and some actors approached him for work and he too was keen to work with some of the actors. So when he started casting for the role, he first approached Ranbir for this but he found the script too dark. So he decided not to do it. There was another actor who too wanted to do it but refused to do it after hearing the narration.”
Sushant was then offered the role and after hearing the narration he agreed to do it. Abhishek too had apparently liked Sushant and thinks that he is the perfect choice for this yet to be titled film. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and rest of the casting process is underway. Sushant is expected to start work on it after he completes Chanda Mama Door Ke.
