Since makers have shifted their interest in releasing films from theatres to OTT platforms amidst the Coronavirus lockdown, cinema houses are busy slamming the makers for betraying them. Yesterday, as soon as Shoojit Sircar confirmed that Gulaboo Sitabo will release on Amazon Prime Video instead of waiting for theatres to get open, INOX should his displeasure regarding this.
Taking to their Twitter handle he issued a long statement and called the filmmakers and Producers “fair-weather friends”. Well, while we were wondering as to what do the makers have to say on this, the Producers Guild issued a statement on their Twitter handle in response to the INOX.
Producers Guild backlash the INOX by calling it ‘abrasive and unconstructive messaging’. In their statement they stated that the industry is going through a huge loss due to lockdown and producers are seeking avenues that are feasible.

They also listed the factors that are putting a strain on the industry financially, the organization mentioned that since there is uncertainty over the reopening of the theatres anytime soon so this is the only reason why they have moved on to the OTT platforms.
They further assured that as soon as the theatres open they would collaboratively work with the exhibitors to get things back to normal.

Meanwhile, makers of Shakuntala Devi starring Vidhya Balan have also announced that the film will premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Though they have yet not announced the date however we expect the film soon.
