Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri had a decent start at the box-office as the film raked in Rs 4.04 crore on its opening day.
The film recorded very good occupancy in Delhi and Punjab whereas it was very low in rest of the country. It is Diljit Dosanjh’s star-power that has saved the film for recording a dismissal start as the collections in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore were much below NH 10 that released in 2015.
Like any other multiplex film, even Phillauri will witness routine growth in collections over the weekend. To sustain in long run, Mumbai has to come into picture, but as things stand today, chances look bleak.
The film has been made at a controlled cost and the producers, Fox Star Studios have already recovered a reasonable chunk of their investment via sale of satellite and music rights. However to be termed a theatrical hit, the film has to rake in around Rs 30 crore at the box-office. Jump in collections on Saturday followed by hold in collections on Monday will decide.
