Kangana Ranaut is back to the silver screens in a whole new avatar in Panga also starring Richa Chadha, Jassie Gill and Neena Gupta. After playing a crazy character in Judgementall Hai Kya, the actress is playing the role of a 32-year-old Kabadi player who is a mother of a little son.
The film helmed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari collected Rs 2.7 crore on the first day of its release i.e 24th January, Friday. Trade analyst took to his Twitter handle to announce the collection and wrote, “#Panga records a low total on Day 1... Gathered momentum towards evening shows at select multiplexes, but occupancy at multiplexes of Tier-2 and 3 cities remained dull... Strong word of mouth should ensure growth on Day 2 and 3... Fri ₹ 2.70 cr.”

The film released at 1450 screens across the country and 450 screens overseas. The film clashed with Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor’s starrer Street Dancer 3D and this can be one of the reasons why Panga had a slow start.
The trade analysts had expected the film to earn in the range of Rs 5 crore. The film received positive reviews both from the critics and audience. Also, people are busy drawing the line between Sridevi’s hit film English Vinglish and Panga.
