Since the trailer of MNS former chief Balasaheb Thackeray's biopic Thackeray trailer has come out, the lead actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been saying that it is his most difficult role ever. However, many are praising the actor for going to the depth into the character of Thackeray. Now the casting director of the film, Rohan Mapuskar revealed that actor Nawaz wasn't the first choice for the role.

Roham Mapuskar revealed that actually, Karwaan actor Irrfan Khan was the first choice for the role. Rohan told Mid-Day, "Director Abhijit Panse, Sanjay Raut and I were brainstorming on who we'd like to cast and were contemplating [roping in] Irrfan. We had his image to see if it matched that of Mr Thackeray, and were convinced."

However, Mapuskar also revealed that why Irrfan Khan couldn't be able to do the film. "Irrfan, who was busy with another film, said he could only consider it after two or three months," added Rohan.

This is to notice that Nawazuddin Siddiqui who was last seen in the film Manto where he played the role of writer Manto from Lahore has played the role of late leader Balasaheb Thackeray. This is his second back to back biopic following Manto.

Rohan also shared how Nawaz was clear that he will give his career's best performance through it. He said, "He [Panse] told us that during certain pandals, Mr Thackeray would be seated with the Karyakartas on the floor. Following subsequent discussion, we felt that Nawaz would be a better choice for the depiction of such scenes when compared to Irrfan. Zeroing in on him was a consensual decision."
