Naam Shabana had a decent opening at the box-office as the film raked in around Rs 5 crore on its first day.
The Taapsee Pannu film was benefitted a bit by Akshay Kumar’s presence in trailer as well as the promotional activities however it wasn’t enough to help it record a very good opening day number. The decent number is majorly due to the wide release on 2100 screens as the occupancy level through-out the country was low at approximately 25%.
The distribution rights of Naam Shabana has been sold for a comparatively high rates and it is essential for the film to not just show growth over the weekend but also record steady trend on the weekdays to sail through.
Last week’s release, Phillauri has flopped at the box-office as the film has crashed on its second Friday. The Anushka Sharma film raked in around 50 lakhs on Friday taking the 8 day total to Rs 23 crore. The film is looking to end its run at the box-office at collections close to Rs 25 crore. Producers Fox Star Studios will just about break-even, however that is due to non-theatrical revenue which does not play much of a role in deciding the box-office verdict.
