Madhur had to stop promotions after members of a political party storm the venue.
Madhur Bhandakar’s Indu Sarkar which stars Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, Tota Roy Chowdhury and others has been in news for long time now. The film is set in emergency era and it was reported that the Congress Party has objected to it as they feel the director may have not portrayed late Indira and Sanjay Gandhi in a right way. They apparently wanted to watch the film before Censor Board. But so far their demand has not been granted and looks like they are not ready to give up their protest. Madhur has started promotions of the film and visited Pune on Saturday(today) but his interaction was interrupted and cancelled after a group of people barged into his hotel.
Madhur updated about the incident on Twitter and wrote, “Congress workers barged into the hotel lobby & created ruckus, me & team are stranded like hostages in hotel room.#pune activity cancelled.”(sic)
Meanwhile it is not just political party, Madhur has also been facing problems for getting a certificate for his film as the Board has asked him to remove some references to political leaders, parties, add disclaimers and so on. Finally Madhur had agreed to put disclaimer in few scenes stating that it is a fictional story.
The film is set to release on July 28
