Since PM Modi announced nation-wide lockdown to curb the outspread of coronavirus, police have seen a sharp rise in domestic violence. There have been reports claiming that it’s just not in India rather throughout the world. In the report, they also stated that people facing physical assault are not able to file a complaint or not even able to report it as they are locked with them. And those who are reporting the crime are either calling the police from their bathroom or emailing or dropping a text.
So, to motivate people celebs like Karan Johar, Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Madhuri Dixit Nene, among others have come together to ask the citizens of India to report the domestic violence cases.
In the video shared by the celebs we can see they start by saying, “During the lockdown, there’s been a sharp increase in the domestic violence cases. Now is the time to stand up against this violence. To all the men and women we say, now is the time to stand up and break your silence. If you are a witness to domestic violence in your home, please report it. If you are witness to domestic violence in your neighbourhood report it. If you are a survivor of this report it now. Let’s put a lockdown on domestic violence.”
