Ever since Ekta Kapoor got on board as the presenter and pan-India distributor of the most controversial film of the year 'Lipstick Under My Burkha', she has left no stone unturned to promote the film.
However, Ekta recently revealed she hadn't expected she would like the feminist drama 'so much'.
The 42-year-old, while promoting the Alankrita Shrivastava-directorial here, spoke about the reasons that made her say 'yes' to be a part of the film.
"I wanted to do it! I saw the film, I liked it. I didn't think I would like it so much. I'm not much of a torch bearer for art films. So maybe I have not given them a chance. But mostly I have seen movies that are pretentious, they lack entertainment," she said.
"But when I saw this movie, it was after a long time that I came across a very bold but very strangely questioning film. It was entertaining and very exclusive. At any point, you never felt as if these were people you never knew. You would always feel a part of the movie."
"You will feel that you have either seen this story or it has happened to someone you know. The conversations happening in the film were very real but extremely entertaining," she added.
Ekta also said she has no clue why other studio heads had a problem being associated with the film.
"To stand and look at a film like this and not be a part of it would have been an extremely sad part, if you are a studio head," concluded Ekta.
The movie, which speaks about the aspirations of women, was not given a certificate from CBFC for its sexual scenes, abusive words and audio pornography.
Starring Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah among others, 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' is scheduled to release on July 21.
