Not only did Anupam Kher win the award for the best supporting actor at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, but his co-jury member on Australian Academy's inaugural Best Asian Film Award also walked away with the same honour.
The celebrated actors bagged the honour for the movies 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' and 'Neerja' respectively.
Other nominees in the male category included Rajat Kapoor for 'Kapoor and Sons,' Rajkummar Rao for 'Aligarh,' Rishi Kapoor for 'Kapoor and Sons,' Amitabh Bachchan for 'Wazir.'
On the other hand, Azmi outshone Andrea Tariang for 'Pink,' Ratna Pathak Shah for 'Kapoor and Sons,' Disha Patani for 'Ms Dhoni: The Untold Story' and Richa Chadha for 'Sarbjit' to walk away with the award.
The 18th edition of the awards ceremony, which celebrates the achievements of Bollywood in different cities across the world, is a three-day extravaganza that started from July 13 and is being held at the iconic MetLife Stadium in New York.
Besides Bollywood celebrities, several Hollywood stars, including Angelina Jolie, action star Jackie Chan, Australian pop-star Kylie Minogue, British actor Colin Firth, Hollywood stars Hillary Swank, Kevin Spacey and John Travolta, have also been a part of IIFA in the past.
