A few weeks ago, some photos of Ranbir Kapoor with Mahira Khan went viral on social media in which they both were chilling out on the New York street outside a hotel. These pictures became a hot topic of discussions as they both Ranbir Kapoor and Mahira Khan were smoking in these pictures following which many assumed that now Mahira is Ranbir's new girlfriend.
Then a video of both in a Dubai hotel in which they both were talking went viral. Later, the fans began slamming the actress.
Mahira was slut-shamed the actress just because she could be seen smoking with the Bollywood actor.
Fans said many things to both, however, it was not new for Ranbir, but Mahira got really upset with that.
Even Pakistani actor Ali Zafar posted an open letter in the support for the actress. Now Mahira, who is busy with the promotions for her upcoming movie Verna, finally spoke about the whole incident.
According to Pinkvilla, she said, "I’d be lying if I said that I decided right off the bat that I wouldn’t respond to this controversy. And I’m a very strong woman but when all of this happened, I was completely shattered and broken. I would think about posting a statement every day. Then I would stop myself because I just wouldn’t know what to say."
She further added, "But to be honest, I understand where all the criticism came from and it didn’t come from a place of hate. I’m not talking about the trolls but those who were genuinely disappointed to see those pictures. It’s the same disappointment that my Nani or my Mamoo would have felt seeing that. So even now when I meet an older lady who says that she didn’t like the pictures, I’m quick to apologize."
The actress was also asked if she believes that she is good role model for her fans, to which she replied, "People ask me if I’m a good role model for my fans, and my response to that is that yes, I am a role model but I’m not the perfect role model. I am human, I make mistakes."
Well, it is all about haters and criticism, in our point of view, it was surely not her fault how people reacted to those pictures.
