Rajkumar Rao talks about the survival and difficulties he had to face during the shoot of his upcoming film Trapped.
The film talks about a man that is played by Rajkumar who gets stuck in an empty high rise without food, water and electricity thus the actor had to cut off his daily meals and stick to a strict diet to make his appearance look natural in the film. "I had to go on a very strict diet and had to survive on black coffee and carrots for 20 days. During lunch time when the team would have proper food, I would go inside the room where a cup of coffee and carrot used to be kept for me. If I would have had my regular food daily, it wouldn't have been possible to see any change in my body after getting trapped in an empty room without food and water."
The actor also said that he didn't have to prepare much for this film apart from his change in diet as he wanted to look natural and organic on screen.
While shooting for 20 days on stretch with a minimal amount of consumption taken into the body, Rao did feel exhausted both mentally and physically. "It was physically and mentally exhausting for me to live in that space for almost 18-20 days and to eat nothing. Trust me it's scary to hell. If I just ask you not to eat for two days. You will feel so frustrated and angry on everything. There were times when there were black outs and I had to sit for a moment (to come back where he was). But, that's also the fun of in being an actor as you don't get such films in your career. I feel very lucky that I get to play such parts and work with these (Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl) two fantastic filmmakers. The only point of being an actor is to challenge yourself; if you keep doing the same thing again and again it gets very monotonous and boring...go do something else then, you can't be in a creative job", Rao adds.
