Death threats to Mahesh Bhatt's family

Late night filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt claims that he received a threat call from an anonymous caller demanding 50 lakhs rupees from him. The caller then is said to have threatened to kill him, his wife Soni Razdan and daughter Alia Bhatt, if he fails to cough up the money. "If you fail to do so, I will fire several rounds of bullets into your daughter Alia and wife Soni" were said to be the caller's words. The caller apparently demanded Bhatt to deposit the money in a Lucknow based bank as soon as possible. Initially the filmmaker thought it was a prank but later he claims he started receiving threat messages from the caller warning him on not to take it lightly.

Looking at the scenario; the Bhatts approached the Juhu police station to register a complaint against the caller. Currently the case has been transferred to the Anti-Extortion cell for further investigation. Reportedly, the case has been registered under section 387 (causing a person to fear death or grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion.)

The Juhu police is also said to have provided police security for the Bhatt family..
