Box office: Tubelight fails to shine in the second week

Salman Khan’s film continues its dry spell at box office, the actor might pay compensation

 Salman Khan’s Eid release Tubelight opened with high expectations. However, the film has not been able to earn good money compared to its previous festival releases. On Friday the film has managed to cross Rs.100 crore mark after a week. After second weekend the film collected Rs.119.86 crore approximately, though there were no major releases this week.

 There have been reports that some of the distributors were going to meet the actor and request for compensation for their losses. A source says, “Salman and his team apparently has had a series of meeting with single screen theatre owners and distributors. He apparently decided to pay money to them who have bought the film for heavy price, expecting that it will be a hit. But it has not been performing well and could not even reach Rs. 150 crore even after ten days. So Salman apparently does not want distributors to suffer and has said to have decided to pay Rs 65 crores to them. But there is no confirmation about it from him or his team so far.”
