Akshay’s film collected a decent amount of money on first weekend
Akshay Kumar’s film Toilet-Ek Prem Katha, which stars Bhumi Pednekar released on Friday. The film talks about issue of open defecation and has received a positive response from audience. On Friday it got a decent opening with Rs. 13.10 crore, Saturday saw a jump in number with Rs. 17.10 crore and Sunday was a good day as it earned Rs. 21. 25 crore. So it has collected Rs. 51.45 crore on the first weekend. Inspite of not getting favourable reviews the film has been drawing lot of audience to theatres. This week will have two more holidays and the trade experts feel that footfalls will definitely increase.
Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal which released last week saw a huge drop in numbers within a week. The film has approximately collected Rs. 60 crore so far.
Next week two small films Bareilly Ki Barfi featuring Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao and Huma Qureshi starrer Partition 1947 are set to release.
