Box Office: Mom does decent business

Sridevi’s film managed to earn well on day one

 Sridevi’s latest release Mom, which featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna and two Pakistani actors Anand Siddiqui and Sajal Ali has got some positive reviews. The film was released in 1350 screens in India,including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions and 456 screens overseas. On day one it got 25% occupancy which was not too great, however it has been facing severe competition from Hollywood film Spider-Man Homecoming. But Mom managed to earn Rs 3 crore on day 2 and  is expected to do well over the weekend due to positive feedback from audience. According to trade experts Mom is a serious film, so it will have limited number of audience attracted to it. The film is said to be made on Rs. 30 crore budget and Rs. 10 crore has been spent on publicity and marketing.

 The second release of this week Guest Iin London, which featured Paresh Rawal, Kartik Aaryan, Tanvi Azmi and Kriti Kharbanda. As per the makers the film has earned Rs. 2.10 crore, while the trade analyst claim that it has collected around Rs. 1.20 crore.


Salman Khan’s Tubelight has collected approximately Rs 119 crore so far after two weeks and the actor is said to be going to pay Rs. 55 crore to distributors, who have incurred losses.
