Bollywood’s production house owned by big celebs such as Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar among others landed up in trouble. Lately, all the big banners of Bollywood were hitting the headlines when the Income Tax Department conducted their survey regarding taxation of extra artistes.
As per recent reports by Bollywood Hungama, the IT department suspects that the big banners of the industry are not levying enough tax while paying the extras. They surveyed seven of the banners including Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, Karan Johar’s Dharma Production, Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films.

As per the report, the extras are no paid a Tax Deducted At Sources (TDS) of 2% on their wage while they should supposedly pay 10% TDS. Notably, the big celebs of the films as well as other actors pay 10% TDS, since they all are skilled artistes.
Well, no final decision has been taken yet so we have to wait will the taxations for extras be reformed now.
Meanwhile, talking about Karan Johar then for the first time he has produced a full-fledged horror film Bhoot: The Haunted Ship apart from the Netflix series “Ghost Stories”. So far the film which star Vicky Kaushal has earned 16.36 crores.
