In the starting of this year, it was confirmed that Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have confirmed to play leading roles in Anurag Kashyap's next film Gulab Jamun. In fact, reports were that it was Anurag Kashyap who tried a hard to bring Abhishek and Aishwarya together after 8 years of Mani Ratnam's Raavan.
Now we hear that famous producer Ronnie Screwala has taken over this project of Anurag Kashyap as the production house of Anurag Kashyap, Phantom was dissolved. We even hear that the production house even has decided to replace the director of the project, Sarvesh Mewara who was earlier decided by Anurag Kashyap to direct the film.
One close source related to the project said, “With the Me Too movement gaining steam most of the projects that feature Phantom Films are being reworked, and in the case of Gulab Jamun it is the same. Given the current scenario, and the indecisive future of the projects under the Phantom banner, Ronnie Screwvala stepped in to take over the project under his banner RSVP Films.”
The unit member further added, “With RSVP taking over the reins of Gulab Jamun, it is more than likely that a new director will be brought on board, replacing Sarvesh who was to direct the venture earlier.”

The source took it forward and narrated the reason of replacing the director, “See given the cast of the film which includes Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the venture is by no means a small one. Now though Sarvesh has written the script and story of the film, he is a newcomer in terms of direction. So it is obvious that they would want the film to rest in more capable hands.”
