Akshay Kumar on National Award win: It is a double celebration on sets of Padman!

Akshay Kumar took to twitter to express his gratitude after been rewarded with the National Award for his portrayal of a Navy Officer in Rustom.

The actor thanked his fans and the National Award jury for believing in his talent and dedicated this award to his parents and wife, Twinkle Khanna.

“Thank you would seem like a very small word right but I don’t know how else to express myself as I am only humbled by this honour. I would only like to thank the National Award Jury and all the fans from the core of my heart for believing in my talent. Rustom was a very special role as it feels great to wear the Navy uniform. The National Award has made Rustom very special for me. I would like to dedicate this award to my parents and my wife (Twinkle Khanna). She often used to tell me ‘Acha Hua Tumne Award Function Pe Jana Band Kar Diya, Kabhi Kuch Milta Toh Hai Nai’ . But I would like to say ‘Der Aye Durust Aye, Par Aye Toh Sahi’,” said Akshay Kumar.

The actor further added that there would be a double celebration on the sets of Padman today as his co-star, Sonam Kapoor’s film, Neerja too won a National Award. Akshay said,

“As I speak this, another National Award Winner, Sonam Kapoor is with me shooting (for Padman) and it is a double celebration for us today.”

Directed by R Balki, Padman releases in 2018.
