Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar have worked together for 6 films, but Kal Ho Naa Ho is something that will always be memorable. Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar did two films Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham before Kal Ho Naa Ho, and when Karan wrote his third film, he wasn't able to direct it.
Karan Johar once said, in an interview, that when he wrote Kal Ho Naa Ho, he was dealing with personal issues like his father's health. So due to circumstances, he decided to give the script to his one of the close assistants Nikkhil Advani to direct the film.

While handing over the script, Karan told Nikkhil that 'It is my baby and I am giving this to you'. Well, the film came out and it turned out as one of biggest blockbusters of SRK and leading star cast. It was tremendously appreciated and the audience just loved the cool and similar character of Rajesh Khanna in Aanand.
Today on the 14th anniversary of the film, we are going to tell you something shocking and surprising and that it was supposed to be Salman Khan not SRK in Kal Ho Naa Ho. Actually, while SRK was shooting for the film, he had a huge back injury and he went for treatment in France. That time it was totally difficult for SRK to complete the film, so the My Name Is Khan star suggested Salman Khan's name to Karan Johar.
However, Karan and Nikkhil both denied and said that Kal Ho Naa Ho will be made only if SRK works in it or it won't be made. Later, SRK came and completed the film. Shah Rukh also has accepted that Kal Ho Naa Ho gave an inspiration to him during his back injuries.
The interesting thing is that Salman Khan played the role of 'Aman' in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as well, so it would have been interesting to see him in KHNH.
On the other hand, it is famous that Kareena Kapoor was offered Kal Ho Naa Ho but she rejected it because she asked the same amount of fees that was offered to SRK.
