New Mahindra SUV Coming Soon; Could Be Named XUV300

Mahindra & Mahindra, one of the country's largest utility vehicle manufacturers, is expected to roll-out an all new SUV in the Indian market very soon. Code-named as Mahindra S201, the SUV's was recently spotted in a production-ready version, as per Chandigarhmetro.com. Speculations are rife that this mode will be another addition to the company's already popular XUV series and is likely to be called Mahindra XUV300.

The all-new Mahindra S201 is expected to be showcased at the upcoming mega Auto Expo 2018. The SUV is likely to hit the Indian roads by mid-2018. As per the market speculations, the upcoming Mahindra SUV will be rolled-out within the price segment of Rs 9 lakh to 11 lakh, in two size versions – a compact SUV and a larger-size SUV. While the compact version will be competing against the likes of Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, and Maruti Vitara Brezza, the larger version will be taking on with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.

The spy shots of Mahindra S201 that have been doing rounds on multiple auto portals give an impression that the new Mahindra SUV will be carrying a basic structure and look of its singling Sangyong Tivoli, which was showcased by the company at Auto Expo 2016. However, there seem to be some cosmetic upgrades incorporated in S201 to make it more compatible with the Indian market, which includes a different front and rear end design and a higher ground clearance.

Under the hood, the upcoming Mahindra SUV will be loaded with an upgraded 1.2L petrol engine which is expected to deliver a maximum power of 140 hp. This will be an upgraded version of the existing 1.2L engine offered with KUV100 NXT. The diesel version will be offered with Mahindra's power-packed 1.5L engine.
