Rift in Maha Vikas Aghadi government? Unhappy with portfolio allocation, Vijay Wadettiwar to take 'big decision' tomorrow
Miffed with the portfolio allocation in Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray government in Maharastra, a senior Congress leader has reportedly vowed to take a big decision on Friday. Vijay Namdevrao Wadettiwar has not been attending Maharashtra Cabinet meetings after cabinet expansion by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Visible rift
This is being seen as a visible rift in Maha Vikas Aghadi government, reports of some other leaders not being happy with portfolio distribution have been doing the rounds for some time now.
Media reports suggest that 'resignation from cabinet' is on the cards, but Congress leaders won't let it go so far. Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan has reportedly said that the issues would be resolved amicably.
Light portfolio for the heavyweight politician
Vijay Wadettiwar has been allocated earthquake rehabilitation and the OBC and SEBC portfolios. These are considered insignificant and do not have an independent secretary. Vijay Wadettiwar missed assembly session too on Wednesday.
Three-party government
Senior Congress leaders believe that three-party government— Shiv Sena, NCP, Congress— has its challenges and not every leader could be satisfied.
An agitated Wadettiwar spoke to CM Uddhav Thackeray and state Congress president Balasaheb Thorat and urged them to reconsider the portfolios allotted to him. Last week, Shiv Sena legislator Abdul Sattar had quit as he was given the status of junior minister. He later withdrew his resignation.
