Madhya Pradesh Crisis: Kamal Nath led Congress makes all-out attempt to woo back Jyotiraditya Scindia
While a spot of bother took shape over the Congress government in the state of Madhya Pradesh, attempts were being made to woo back discontented leaders and former MP Jyotiraditya Scindia who remains uncommunicative, said party sources.
17 MLAs, including at least six ministers, known to be Scindia supporters, are currently in Bengaluru. Chief Minister Kamal Nath pledged to reconstruct the state cabinet after a meeting on Monday. Following the meeting, around 20 ministers resigned putting faith in Kamal Nath’s leadership.
In the national capital, sources said frantic attempts were being made by the Congress to save the government in Madhya Pradesh, and conciliate Scindia who has been at odds with Kamal Nath over leadership issue.
The party high command is sending delegates, including Sachin Pilot in order to woo him back. But the attempts have not been successful yet, they said.
Sachin Pilot tried reaching out to Scindia, but was unsuccessful. The MP didn’t respond to his message, said sources.
"I am hopeful that the current crisis in Madhya Pradesh ends soon and that leaders are able to resolve differences. The state needs a stable government in order to fulfil the promises make to the electorate,” Pilot tweeted on Tuesday.
Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh also said Scindia could not be contacted.
"We have not been able to talk to him yet... Anyone who is a true Congressman will not leave the party," he said, adding the people of the state would give a befitting reply to anyone who attempts to undermine their mandate.
