BJP’s Vadra? Amit Shah ridiculed on social media over son Jay Shah’s business
A recent story in The Wire on the business interests of BJP president Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah has become an embarrassment for the saffron party. Opposition parties like the Congress and CPI(M) have demanded an inquiry into whether Jay’s business benefitted because of his father’s position. Congress has also asked for Amit Shah’s resignation as BJP president, citing how Bangaru Laxman had resigned as party chief after he was shown taking money in a sting operation.
On social media, BJP has been facing ridicule ever since the story broke out. The story has been translated into Hindi and Gujarati and the translated versions are being circulated on WhatsApp. It has spawned several WhatsApp jokes as well. On Twitter, the hashtag “#AmitShahKiLoot” trended on Twitter on Sunday.
Making fun of Jay’s company name Temple Enterprises, a witty twitter remarked that this is what BJP meant by “Mandir Wahin Banayenge”.

There are many who are drawing parallels between Jay Shah and Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra.

Being a principled man, Modi was about to take action against Amit Shah's scamster son. But then Shah asked "what about Vadra, why are you silent on him" . The principled man had no answer to the classical reasoning style of his own party man. #AmitShahKiLoot

Shah's son's fortune zoomed in a yr under Modi! If Vadra was Congress's Damaad, is Shah's son BJP's Beta or Bhatija? https://t.co/kcQEcfSa0v

Even though Jay Shah has denied the allegations made in the story, it is clear that Amit Shah’s image has taken a dent and, by extension, Modi cannot remain unaffected as well.
