After Rahul's Sholay jibe how GST = Great Sarcasm on Twitter
“Kitne Aadmi thhe? (How many of them?)”, thundered Gabbar Singh onscreen in Sholay and became a legend. Four decades down the line the Congress fell back on the iconic villain to make a metaphor out GST.
GST = Goods and Service Tax, right? Wrong. A resurgent Rahul Gandhi changed it to Gabbar Singh Tax. His social media team, which has recently found its mojo and some more quickly chimed in with a video clip of the 1975 blockbuster spliced with RaGa's offensive.

It soon became a thing on social media. Gandhi, who is tipped to be taking over the party reins from mother Sonia within a month now, added to his fancount. Others, meanwhile, decided to join the fun in renaming GST.
There already was pent-up frustration regarding the issue – more so ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party targeted Tamil superstar Vijay and his Diwali release Mersal: the actor apparently had taken a good dig at the new tax regime and that didn't go down well with the saffron party despite their microscopic presence in Tamil Nadu.
Many from the film fraternity clearly expressed their irritation:
What's the need for a complete overhaul of GST when we can just delete a few scenes from #Mersal?

While some took the opportunity to lash out at the ways GST has affected them:

Meanwhile, History of India – a popular, sarcastic Twitter parlour followed even by Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined in the game. The handle took a few dig, even equating Modi with Gabbar:

And then it opened up the game, asking “What's your full form of GST?”
What’s your full form of GST?

The result was hilarious. See for yourself:
