WWE superstar John Cena tweets Walt Whiteman's quote on Twitter after breaking up with Nikki Bella

On Sunday, WWE wrestler and actor broke up with Nikki Bella after six years. The couple started dating in 2012, John proposed Bella at WrestleMania 32 where they won a mixed match against he Miz and Maryse.

Last month, the couple shared a moment at the WrestleMania 35 Press Conference. They broke up because Cena didn't want any kid.

The couple sent Us Weekly a statement: "While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."

John Cena shared his response to the news on social media.

Nikki Bella also tweeted a message after they shared the news of about breakup.

In February, Cena in an interview on TODAY spoke about the highs and lows of their relationship with Nikki. Cena admitted, "I think in relationships you have highs and lows and that was an extreme low. You either have two choices: you either jump ship and start a new relationship or move forward and try to work through it. And we're gonna move forward and try to work through it."

On Sunday, Cena shared a quote on Twitter stating: "Keep your face always toward the sunshine—and shadows will fall behind you."

He also tweeted a Walt Whiteman quote, "Anybody feeling down, check out #WaltWhiteman, "has always been a helpful voice in times of crisis. Beautifully, wild thinker and was certainly onto something with ideas like these."

"While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another," they said in a statement to E! News. "We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives. "
