Viral: New Zealand disappears from world maps, PM Jacinda Ardern pleads, "Stop leaving us off the map"
In a tourism video launched today, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern joined comedian Rhys Darby to campaign for finding remote South Pacific homeland that is missing from global maps. In the video footage comedian Rhys Darby point outs that the country is missing from the maps and is a plot to undermine New Zealand's popularity.
Rhys Darby said, "Australia want our tourists, England want to get rid of the All Blacks and the wine industry, they can't beat our pinot (noir) or sav (sauvignon blanc)," He also added that this was a conspiracy theory.
There are several other maps. There is a large yellow clock displaying the time in Sydney where New Zealand should be. It was also captioned below reads: "Hopefully they use the same map in the rocket launch command centre."
Chief Tourism executive Stephen England said that this is a campaign to promote the country as a holiday destination. He also added, "It's unfathomable that New Zealand is left off world maps."
