Kim Jong-un is willing to discuss denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, US official confirms
US officials confirmed that Kim Jong-un is willing to talk denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. This has cleared that a summit meeting between N Korea and the US will happen.
One of the US officials confirmed, "The US has confirmed that Kim Jong-un is willing to discuss the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula,"
The official also added that Pyongyang has said not to disclose much information about the agreement. It is to be noted North Korea in past had frozen its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes.
The nuclear deal summit is expected to happen in May. This would be the first time that a ruling President would meet the North Korean leader. If reports are to be believed then the US and North Korean intelligence officials have spoken to each other a couple of times and met in a third country. While the dates of the meeting of the US and North Korea have not been confirmed, South and North Korea will be holding a summit on April 27, again this would be the first meeting between the Korean leaders in 11 years.
