Humans are shrinking on this island, and no one knows why
Do you know that such an island exists where human body keeps shrinking? Such an island exists in the eastern half of Indonesia Flores.
In the year 2003, a group of researchers dug a cave and were surprised to find fossils of a tiny, humanlike individual. The fossils had a small chimp-sized brain. Currently, the island is well-known for the pygmy population. The pygmy populations Rampasasa are some three feet tall with maximum height 4 feet 9 inches.
A study published on Thursday by a geneticist at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Richard E. Green states, "It’s rare in science that you set about to answer a question and you get something of a definitive answer and it’s the end,” “The answer is a clear enough ‘no’ that I’m done with it,"
Green also added that the study shows that at least twice in ancient history, humans and their relatives (known as hominins) arrived on Flores and then grew shorter. Why only human, other research stated that elephant also appeared on the island and evolved into dwarves.
