Four-year-old Israeli hostage released

On Sunday, Hamas released 17 hostages, including the four-year-old Israeli-American girl, Avigail Idan. She was kidnapped during the October 7th attack in southern Israel.

Reunion and Gratitude

Avigail's family expressed immense relief and gratitude for her safe return. Her great aunt, Liz Hirsh Naftali, and cousin, Noa Naftali, issued a statement thanking US President Joe Biden, the Qatari government, and others involved in securing Avigail's release.

Family's Ordeal
Avigail, who turned four during her captivity, faced the traumatic loss of her parents during the Hamas attack. Her father, holding her at the time, was fatally shot, while her two siblings managed to hide and were later rescued.

Avigail herself survived, walking to her neighbour's home, the Brodutch family, only to be abducted later by Hamas along with the Brodutch family.

Nationalities and Age Groups of Hostages
Out of the 17 released hostages, 14 were Israeli citizens, and three were Thai nationals. Notably, nine of the Israeli hostages were children, underscoring the impact on young lives.

Call for Further Action
While celebrating Avigail's return, the Idan family urged for the prompt release of the remaining hostages, emphasizing the ongoing need for international efforts to address the broader hostage situation.
