Australian father kills teenage children in Sydney, then shoots himself
A 68-year-old Australian father John Edwards shot his 15-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter on Friday in Sydney and later turned the gun towards him and shot himself. According to police, this was a premeditated and planned murder-suicide.
This shooting came two-month after a mass-murder-suicide in Western Australia state where a grandfather shot his wife, daughter and three children.
According to police, the bodies of the 15 and 13 were found at home while the father's body was found at another address. The assault gun discovered by police was very powerful.
Assistant Commissioner New South Wales Brett McFadden said, "The father appeared to have planned the killings, using legally-owned firearms. The 36-year-old wife had fought for custody of the children over the last two years."
The boy's grandmother told The Daily Telegraph newspaper her son "became reclusive" and "just kept to himself" after he retired and the family separated.
