Youth tied to tree, brutally thrashed over suspicion of being child lifter
In a horrifying incident of crime reported from Jharkhand’s Dumka district, a youth was allegedly tied to a tree and brutally beaten by the villagers on Monday.
The victim allegedly subjected to assault as the villagers suspected him to be a child lifter. The incident occurred in Jamkandar village of Dumka district.
The victim has been identified as Besan Murmu. A native of Mohalbna village, the youth (Murmu) was admitted to the government run hospital for medical attention.
As maintained by the police, they received information that villagers had held a youth captive and were brutally thrashing him. Following this, the police rushed to the crime spot and rescued the youth. The villagers said that they had caught the youth when he was trying to abduct a child.
The child began crying when the accused tried to abduct him, the neighbours living in the area rushed to the spot. Following this, the villagers rescued the boy and caught hold of Besan.
A cop privy to the case stated, "As we learnt about a youth being taken captive, we immediately rushed to the village with adequate force as we feared the villagers might lynch the youth. "
Following the grusome incident, the police informed Besan's parents that he had taken into police custody. Besan's parents, who claimed that he is mentally challenged, said that he goes inside anyone's houses and "starts grabbing people".
