Woman helps self-styled godman rape minor daughter on pretext of curing illness
In what was an appalling incident of crime reported from Thane’s Bhiwandi, a 16-year-old girl was raped by a self-styled godman as a 'cure for her dead uncle possessing her'.
The victim's mother allegedly helped the accused in perpetrating the immoral act. The police have taken both - the mother and the self-styled godman into their custody.
The woman’s associate has also been held after the victim registered a complaint with the Narpoli police, police told PTI.
"The complainant said she had severe neck pain and the accused claimed a dead uncle's ghost was possessing her and that he could cure her. She was taken to a forest and raped. Her mother and her acquaintance took the teen to the jungle," he said.
All the accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, he added.
