West Bengal: 2 children dead, 2 injured after black magic performed on them
Two children lost their lives and two were injured after sorcery practices were allegedly carried out on them in West Bengal’s Malda, said police.
The incident took place in Kadamtali village in Gajole police station area on Friday, said police.
"The deceased boys were aged five and seven while two sisters aged three and six have been admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital. An investigation has been initiated and the cause of the deaths is yet to be ascertained," district Superintendent of Police Alok Rajoria said.
Parents of the children, all of them daily wagers, have stated that occult practices were carried out on four kids after which they fell senseless upon their return from a nearby forest on Friday. The kids had gone there to play, said parents.
Initial probe has indicated that the kids might have consume some poisonous fruits in the forest, a police officer said.
TMC MLA Dipali Biswas visited the villege today. She also visited the kids in the hospital. "This is a case of superstition. The children might have survived had the parents taken them to doctors instead of sorcerers. I have urged the villagers to shun such superstitious beliefs," she said.
A team of medics has also been sent to the village, said health officials.
