Uttarakhand: Inebriated cop tries to rape woman at quarantine centre
Amid coronavirus lockdown, a cop has been accused of rape charges by a woman who was quarantined at a centre in Pulbhatta.
She made serious allegations that the cop tried to rape her at a centre. Reportedly, the accused was under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place.
In the wake of coronavirus cases, the Surajmal Institute located in Pulnhatta has been turned into a quarantine centre where people coming from different places are asked to stay in the centre. Among the other people at the quarantine centre, the newly-wed couple was also asked to quarantine at the centre.
As per police complaint, the accused cop went to the room of the couple on the second floor. After reaching there, the cop grabbed the woman’s hand and tried to take her to room on the first floor.
The policeman was inebriated when the police officer attempted to rape the woman, the police complaint said.
Reportedly, when the couple objected then the accused told them that women have been living in a separate room downstairs.
When the newly bride refused to go with him, the accused tried to disrobe her, NDTV Hindi reported.
The woman got scared of cop’s behavior, hence she rushed to her room and closed the door from the inside.
After knowing about the incident, the family members of the woman registered a complaint against the cop.
Police officials also launched an investigation into the matter. Based on the allegation, the cop was suspended.
Meanwhile, the police are probing the matter.
