Uttar Pradesh Crime: Masked man rapes 12-year-old girl in Greater Noida
In an appalling incident, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in Greater Noida. Reportedly, the accused man got arrested after a gunfight.
The incident took place on Tuesday and was arrested on Wednesday, one day after the complaint was filed.
The accused man raped the 12-year-old girl at an area that falls under the jurisdiction of the Ecotech 3 police station.
The investigation was launched after an FIR in relation to the incident was filed. However, the victim couldn’t tell the name of the accused as she had seen the perpetrator for the first time. Hence, the police didn’t have many leads to nab him.
Face mask hides accused identity:
According to the victim, the man was wearing a face mask due to which girl couldn’t identify him.
As per reports in timesnownews.com, Vrinda Shukla, deputy commissioner of police (women safety) said that the police teams swung into action and the accused was identified.
Shukla also told The Times of India, when a police team tried to arrest the accused, he attempted to flee. The accused also opened fire at the police team and there was an exchange of gunshots. Somehow, the police managed to overpower the accused and arrested him.
Rape cases reported in UP within a month:
Another heinous incident was reported from Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, where a 15-year-old girl was first drugged, gang-raped and was then pushed into flesh trade in Ramnagar area. She was sexually harassed on the pretext of job at beauty parlour.
The incident came to light on 16th August when the minor girl managed to escape from her captor and approached the police and narrated her ordeal.
Reportedly, all the accused have been booked under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act. Meanwhile, all the accused have fled the spot and are at large while the manhunt is on to nab them.

On August 24, a 17-year-old girl was raped and murdered after she had left home to fill out a scholarship application in Lakhimpur Kheri’s village. Police said that the class 12th girl’s mutilated body was found near a dry pond around 200 metres from her village. She was allegedly killed with a sharp weapon with injury marks on her neck. Also, a part of her leg was devoured by some stray animals.
However, the UP Police on August 26 claimed to have solved the case with arrest of a man in his mid-20s.

Barely 10 days before this heinous crime, another UP minor girl was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in the district’s Isanagar area. The body of the girl was recovered from a sugarcane field. Police had arrested two men for the crime and the National Security Act has been invoked against them.
