UP: Youth rapes 14-year-old girl, films act on his mobile phone to blackmail her

A 21-year-old youth allegedly raped a minor girl and recorded the act on his mobile in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district. Later, the man used the clip to blackmail the girl into having a sexual relationship.

Shockingly, when the man’s father came to know about it, he allegedly told the girl’s father that either his son or he himself would marry the girl after her religious conversion.

As per the police, on 11th January, when the girl was all by herself in the house, the accused, identified as Abdul Rehman, barged into the house and raped her. The accused also made a video of the heinous crime and used it to blackmail her for a sexual relationship with him. The minor girl gathered courage and told her ordeal before her family.

The victim’s father, after coming to know about the incident, went to the accused youth’s house and requested his father to tell his son to delete the video of the alleged sexual assault. The youth’s father, instead of taking action against his son advised the victim’s father to make her leave her faith and adopt their religion and said that thereafter, either his son or he himself would marry her, according to a report by The Times of India.

After this, the victim’s father registered a police complaint. On the basis of the complaint, police filed a case against the accused and his father under sections 376 (rape), 452 (house-trespass) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Sections 3 and 5 (1) of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020. Charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have also been added in the FIR as the girl is a minor.

The accused were taken into custody on Tuesday, a police officer said, adding that investigation into the case is underway.
