UP woman beaten mercilessly by in-laws over suspicion of affair
In a horrifying incident of crime reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district, a woman and a man were brutally beaten-up after being tied to trees.
The woman’s in-laws had a suspicion that the woman was in an illicit relationship with the man and pounced on them.
The police have filed a case against more than 12 people. Four of them have been taken into police custody thus far.
The man, who is a native of Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, has an agricultural land in Ahmedabad village in Rampur district. A week before, he had come to pay a visit to his farm. On his way back to the village, he met the woman and started talking.
Noticing the young man and woman speak, some people got angry and tied them to trees. Later, they thrashed them. Additional Superintendent of Police Sansar Singh said the man has registered a police complaint.
Further investigation into the case is in progress.
In another incident of crime, four men were arrested for allegedly threatening and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl on multiple occasions in Tamil Nadu’s Ariyalur district.
The victim was allegedly enticed by one Ranjith who had befriended her, police said.
As maintained by police, Ranjith and his friends, Vijay Ramesh and Sathyaraj, sexually assaulted the girl many times and also threatened her.
When the victim told her mother about the incident, the latter registered a complaint with Jayankondam All Women Police.
On the basis of the mother's complaint, all the four accused were taken into police custody under the POCSO Act.
All four accused were also booked under the Goondas Act and sent to Trichy prison after Jayankondam All Women Police Station Inspector Sumathi said they might cause drawback to the investigation and might also carry out severe crimes.
