UP: Drunk cop sexually harasses women; shoots man for objecting
A policeman from Uttar Pradesh has sexually harassed women and shot at a man who expressed disapproval of his conduct in Azamgarh.
According to a report in Times Now, the accused cop has been identified as Sarvesh. The injured man has been identified as Kishanlal.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Saraimeer police station in Kamalpur village when the drunk policeman allegedly harassed the women.
The women were on their way to a wedding ceremony in the village. The policeman and his friends were consuming liquour on the road and made offensive comments at the women while they were on the way. When Kishanlal objected, a fight broke out. The altercation turned violent resulting in Kishanlal being shot at.
The police have taken three men into custody including, the accused cop - posted in Gonda, in the case. The accused have been booked under various relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Kishanlal, who was shot has been referred to Varanasi for further medical attention.
