UP Doctor’s son abducted; kidnappers demand huge ransom

A 21-year-old son of a doctor was allegedly kidnapped from Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district.

According to the timesnownews.com report, the kidnappers have demanded Rs 70 lakh ransom to release the youth.

They have also threatened to kill the doctor’s 21-year-old son if their demand won’t be fulfilled by January 22.

According to the youth’s father, he last talked to his son on Monday afternoon.

The 21-year-old victim identified as Gaurav Haldar, who is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine Surgery (BAMS) from a private college in Haripur locality in Gonda.

Reportedly, he lives in a campus hostel, The Times of India reported.

The youth’s father is also an Ayurveda doctor in the Bahraich district. According to a police official, the doctor thought his son Gaurav would be attending classes on the college campus.

He came to know about his son’s kidnapping on Tuesday after he received a call from an unknown number demanding Rs 70 lakh ransom to release his son, Gaurav.

Meanwhile, police formed six teams to trace the victim and also to nab the accused. Police also scanning CCTV footage of the college.

During the investigation, Gaurav’s last location was traced to Lucknow in the evening on Monday. After that, his phone was switched off.

A media report also suggested that he received a phone call from a girl and after then he left the campus in the afternoon on Monday.
