UP: Debt ridden father sells his daughter for Rs 2 lakh, victim alleges sexual assault
In an appalling incident reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, a man allegedly sold his daughter after he could not pay out his debts.
The incident happened in Meerut’s Partapur area. The victim has alleged that her father sold her for Rs 2 lakh to the man he had taken loan from.
In the meantime, the victim along with her mother approached SP (Crime) in order to register a complaint on this matter, as per a report in Hindi daily Hindustan.
The wife of the accused has also alleged that her husband burnt her with iron when she raised objection to the harassment of her daughter.
A native of Ghaziabad, the family had been staying in Partapur’s Shatabdinagar area. The accused, who is a truck driver, was also incriminated in several other criminal cases and had previously spent time in Tihar and Dasna jail.
According to the wife of the accused, he had loaned Rs 2 lakh from a man who lives in Baraut district. When he could not pay the amount, the accused sold his daughter to the man.
Simultaneously, the victim has alleged that she was sexually abused by the lender after he kept her hostage for one year.
Not long ago, the victim girl managed to run away from his captivity and approached the cops with the help from her mother.
Meerut SP (Crime) Ramarj has ordered CO Brahmpuri to investigate the matter.
"A girl and her mother have submitted a complaint levelling serious allegations. A probe has been ordered and guilty will not be spared," said Ramarj.
